Job summary

Syntron Material Handling is seeking an intermediate-level machinist to perform routine tasks with general knowledge of department workflows. The role involves machine operation, using basic skills with increasing independence while completing assigned tasks.

Key duties include reviewing orders and blueprints, selecting materials, performing measurements, and ensuring safe, orderly work practices. A high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years of machine experience are expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of machine experience preferred.
• Ability to read simple mechanical blueprints.
• Understand geometrical tolerance concepts and apply them.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders, blueprints, or follow verbal instructions for job routing, calculating accurate machining and determine set-up times needed.
• Select required raw materials, performing hardness tests, calculating speeds, and feeds and depths of cut and tapers for machining of material.
• Selects appropriate machine tools; tooling and fixtures needed for task and will perform machining operations using manual or CNC machine.
• Operate vertical shears and punch presses.
• Checks part dimensions and correctly evaluates all level II non-destructive test examinations.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner. Practices good housekeeping in work area.
