Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons is seeking an on-site Baling/Material Handler to tend baling machinery and manage bale production. You will operate equipment to shred, compress, and bind paper by-products, record weights and material grades, and perform routine maintenance as needed.

The role requires familiarity with forklift operations, bale loading, and accurate documentation, with additional responsibilities including ensuring safety and efficiency in daily tasks at the Greensboro facility.

Qualifications

• 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of standard set ups, adjustments and operating characteristics of the equipment.
• Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic adjustments to the equipment.
• Training and mentoring new and existing employees to improve team performance.

Responsibilities

• Tend machines that shred/compresses and binds paper by-products.
• Thread tie bands around bale and tighten ends.
• Open compression chamber doors and remove bale.
• Truck bales to storage location using equipment.
• Complete daily forklift condition report.
• Weight the bales and record gross weight and material grade.
• Perform routine maintenance on baling machinery and clear obstructions.
• Load bales on trucks/rail cars for disposal and complete shipping manifests.
• Photograph container and seal for verification.

Job Description

• Tend machines that shred and/or compresses and binds paper by-products generated from the print manufacturing process to facilitate disposition of the waste materials
• Thread tie bands around bale and twists or clamps ends of bands to tighten bands
• Opens compression chamber doors and removes bale from machine
• Truck bales to storage location using air lifts, pallet jacks or hoist trucks
• Complete daily forklift condition report
• Weight the bales and keep records of the gross weight, materials grade of the bales
• Perform routine maintenance on the baling machinery and remove obstructions in the cyclone as needed
• May load bales on trucks, rail cars for disposal and complete shipping manifest
• May photograph container and seal for verification purposes

Qualifications

• 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
• Requires knowledge of standard set ups, adjustments and operating characteristics of the equipment and skill to perform standard adjustments and operate the equipment
• Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic adjustments to the equipment according to the individual job requirements, operating characteristics, and capabilities of the equipment
• Training and mentoring new and existing employees, ensuring consistent knowledge of company policies, procedures, and best practices to improve team performance and productivity

Thesalary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $17.00 - $22.67 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
