King Arthur Baking Company is seeking a Baking School Instructor to teach our curriculum and lead an engaging classroom experience in Alexandria, VA. This full-time role includes delivering high-quality instruction and occasional in-store demonstrations to assist customers and students.

The instructor will be an ambassador of the brand, guiding students through baking techniques while supporting the customer experience in the retail space.

Qualifications

• 4-10 years combined baking/classroom experience.
• Culinary or baking degree or professional certification preferred.
• Clear and effective communication is essential for classroom management, coordinating with co-workers, and interacting with customers.
• Time management and attention to detail are important in a busy classroom.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities help handle unexpected challenges.
• Customer service mindset to ensure a positive student and shopper experience.

Responsibilities

• Create an exceptional learning environment by ensuring the classroom is safe, well-stocked, and well-maintained and deliver high-quality instruction.
• Demonstrate ongoing professional growth to enhance capacity for guiding and supporting students.
• Demonstrate expertise in fundamental baking techniques and scientific principles for engaging instruction.
• Review curriculum and prepare for each class with clear objectives and techniques.
• Communicate lesson plans with the classroom assistant for seamless coordination.
• Assess baked goods for appearance, flavor, and texture at the end of lessons.
• Teach diverse student skill levels and adapt as needed to meet needs.
• Support retail store shifts as an on-the-floor resource and deliver in-store demonstrations.
