Job summary

ECPI University’s Culinary Institute of Virginia (CIV) in Richmond, VA seeks a Baking & Pastry instructor to teach and mentor the next generation of culinary professionals.

You will deliver hands-on instruction, apply instructional tech and LMS, assess student performance, and participate in university activities. An associate degree is required; a bachelor’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or Hospitality is preferred, with 3–5 years in industry.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts required.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience preferred.
  • Teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical hands-on instruction to create an engaging learning environment.
  • Employ instructional technology and LMS to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Evaluate student performance using diverse assessments.
  • Participate in scheduled university activities.
  • Stay current in subject matter through professional development.
  • All other duties assigned.

Job description

Compensation: $1,444 – $1,650 per course section. Compensation is determined by discipline, credential level, and course type. Ranges reflect good faith estimates based on current pay practices.

This position is based at our Richmond, VA campus location.

  • Stay current in subject matter through professional development.
  • All other duties assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts required, Bachelor's degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or Hospitality related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience
  • Teaching experience preferred

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to work with a variety of learning styles and skill levels
  • Strong time management skills and detail-orientation
  • Working knowledge of computer applications and the ability to quickly learn new computer software
  • Experience with distance learning or learning management systems (LMS) preferred
