Job summary

Polly Food Service Inc. is seeking a Bakery Technician at our Chelsea, MI store to prepare, bake, and finish bakery items daily. You will follow recipes, monitor freshness, and help keep the bakery clean and organized for a safe shopping environment.

You will work early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed, provide friendly customer service, rotate stock, and support the Bakery team to meet daily production goals in a fast-paced grocery setting.

Qualifications

• Previous bakery or food preparation experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques and food safety standards.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and production schedules.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, mix, proof, and bake a variety of breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, and pastries.
• Operate and maintain bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, slicers, etc.) safely and efficiently.
• Follow proper procedures and recipes to ensure consistency and quality.
• Monitor product freshness and rotate stock to reduce waste.
• Label and package products for display and sale.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery area in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with inventory counts and stock replenishment.
• Follow daily production schedules and assist in planning based on sales trends.
• Provide excellent customer service; answer product questions and take special orders when necessary.
• Work collaboratively with bakery team members and support other departments as needed.
