Job summary

King Arthur Baking Company in Norwich, Vermont, is seeking a Bakery Steward to maintain cleanliness and organization of bakery equipment and area. Shift starts at 5am; this is a part-time position averaging 24 hours per week.

You will clean pots, pans, dishware, and utensils, stock supplies, assist in food prep cleanliness, and help with packaging baked goods; join a cooperative, employee-owned environment that emphasizes teamwork and safety.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working as a Dish Washer or in a similar role preferred but not required
• Ability to work early morning shifts (5AM).
• Attention to Detail – Ensures all dishware, utensils, and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized while maintaining an organized and hygienic workspace.
• Efficiency & Time Management – Works quickly and effectively to complete tasks, Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Teamwork & Collaboration – Works well with other team members to support smooth operations and maintain a clean and functional workspace. Follows instructions accurately and proactively seeks clarification to ensure tasks are completed correctly.
• Dependability– Demonstrates reliability, consistency, a strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness and supporting kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and Sanitize Kitchenware – Wash, sanitize, and properly store pots, pans, dishware, and utensils to maintain food safety standards.
• Maintain a Clean and Organized Dish Area – Ensure the dishwashing area remains tidy, efficient, and free of clutter.
• Stock and Monitor Cleaning Supplies – Keep dish detergents and cleaning materials at appropriate levels, replenishing as needed.
• Support Kitchen and Food Prep Cleanliness – Assist in cleaning food preparation and production areas to uphold hygiene and safety standards.
• Follow Opening and Closing Procedures – Complete daily checklists to ensure the kitchen and dishwashing areas are ready for operation.
• Handle Waste and Linens – Properly bag and transport compost and linens to designated disposal areas.
• Package Baked Goods – Properly packaged baked goods adhering to food safety standards.
