Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Bakery team member to create an outstanding customer experience in store. You will assist the department manager in attaining sales and quality goals while maintaining safety and cleanliness, and you may help with product knowledge and customer service across the bakery area.

You will prepare items to order, offer samples, and ensure freshness and accurate portions. A strong emphasis on safety, teamwork and adherence to guidelines is expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Current food handler's permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain knowledge of bakery products and respond to questions with recommendations.
• Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend bakery items to ensure customers get what they want.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to recipes and temperature logs.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
