Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, answers questions about various products. Helps resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Takes customer orders over the phone or in person with a positive attitude. Determines customer preferences regarding size, flavor, and appearance.
3. Sets up special-order tables during peak hours and shopping days. Builds displays and may write on cakes as needed.
4. Ensures merchandise is fresh, saleable, properly priced, and correctly labeled. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products according to company standards.
5. May assist in baking bread, pastries, and other baked goods, adhering to production logs and approved recipes.
6. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the department, following schedules and health standards. Properly disposes of trash.
7. May assist with receiving and storing deliveries, operating equipment if trained.
8. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties, with training provided.
9. Helps minimize shrinkage and damages, reports shortages or overages.
10. Ensures smooth department and store operations through cooperation and continuous improvement.
11. Uses all provided PPE, including gloves, cutters, and footwear.
12. May assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
