Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, answers questions about various products. Helps resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Takes customer orders over the phone or in person with a pleasant attitude. Determines customer preferences regarding size, flavor, and appearance.
3. Sets up special-order tables during peak hours and shopping days. Arranges bakery cases and displays as needed. May write on cakes as required.
4. Ensures merchandise is fresh, saleable, properly priced, and correctly signed. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products according to company procedures. Removes non-saleable items to maintain quality.
5. May assist in producing breads, pastries, and baked goods, adhering to production logs and approved recipes.
6. Maintains sanitation standards by following cleaning schedules and department guidelines. Ensures work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are clean and compliant with health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
7. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power or hand jack (if trained). Training provided.
8. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
9. Helps minimize shrinkage and controls damages. Reports shortages or overages to management.
10. Ensures smooth department and store operations by cooperating with coworkers and supervisors. Commits to continuous job performance improvement.
11. Uses all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and footwear.
12. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
