Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, answers questions about various products. Helps resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Takes customer orders over the phone or in person with a pleasant and positive attitude. Determines customer preferences regarding size, flavor, and appearance.
3. Sets up special-order tables during peak hours and shopping days. Arranges bakery cases and builds displays as needed. May write on cakes as required.
4. Ensures merchandise is fresh, saleable, properly priced, and correctly labeled. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products according to company standards. Removes non-saleable items to maintain quality.
5. May assist in producing breads, pastries, and other baked goods, adhering to production logs and approved recipes.
6. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the department, following schedules and guidelines to meet health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
7. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, storing deliveries using a power or hand jack (training provided).
8. May help with baling cardboard or related duties (training provided).
9. Works to minimize shrinkage and control damages, reporting shortages or overages to management.
10. Ensures smooth department and store operations by cooperating with team members and supervisors. Strives to improve job performance continuously.
11. Utilizes all provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
12. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. Requirements include:

• High School Diploma or GED (completed or in progress). No prior experience required.
