Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, answers questions about various products. Helps resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Takes customer orders over the phone or in person with a pleasant attitude. Determines customer preferences regarding size, flavor, and appearance.
3. Sets up special-order tables during peak hours and shopping days. Sets bakery cases and builds displays as needed. May write on cakes.
4. Ensures merchandise is fresh, saleable, properly priced, and correctly signed. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products according to company procedures. Removes unsaleable products to maintain quality.
5. May assist in producing breads, pastries, and baked goods, adhering to production logs and approved recipes.
6. Maintains sanitation in the department by following cleaning schedules and standards, ensuring work areas and equipment are clean and compliant with health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
7. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power or hand jack (training provided).
8. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties, with training provided.
9. Helps minimize shrink and control damages. Reports shortages or overages to management.
10. Ensures smooth department and store operations by cooperating with coworkers and supervisors. Commits to continuous job performance improvement.
11. Utilizes all company-provided PPE, including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and footwear.
12. May be called upon to assist in other departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
