Job summary

Palermo's is seeking a Bakery Manager to lead our West Milwaukee bakery operations, overseeing three shifts and coordinating with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse to keep the operation running safely and efficiently.

The role requires 3–5+ years of bakery management, a Bachelor’s degree preferred, and strong leadership, problem-solving, and a focus on safety, quality, and cost control. This is a salaried, exempt leadership position with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of bakery manufacturing management experience.
• Strong knowledge of bakery ingredients and processes.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams.
• ERP familiarity and MS Office proficiency.
• AIB training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead bakery operations across three shifts to meet safety, quality, productivity, cost, and continuous improvement.
• Coach Bakery Leads and build a culture of accountability, respect, and teamwork.
• Ensure product quality by understanding processes, ingredients, equipment, and environment.
• Establish performance expectations and monitor key metrics.
• Maintain sanitation, GMP, 5S and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering to monitor equipment and address repairs.
• Maintain staffing levels and support training, performance management, recognition, and development.
• Identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.
• Monitor inventory and minimize waste and obsolescence.
• Conduct work-area reviews to reinforce safe practices and PPE use.
• Investigate workplace accidents and ensure required reporting.
