Job summary

THE JAMES SKINNER LLC in Omaha, NE is seeking a Maintenance Lead to guide the maintenance team in a fast-paced industrial baking facility. This role requires you to spend 50-75% of time performing hands-on maintenance while coordinating shift priorities and mentoring technicians.

You will serve as the primary technical resource for equipment reliability, safety compliance, and production support, driving continuous improvement and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or equivalent maintenance experience preferred.
• Must meet Maintenance Technician Level 4 or higher; Level 5/6 preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food manufacturing or baking.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team coordination in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong troubleshooting knowledge across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems.
• Proficiency with CMMS, work planning, documentation, and maintenance metrics.
• Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing reliability improvements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in high-temperature, noisy environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate maintenance activities across the assigned shift.
• Ensure technicians complete work orders, respond to breakdowns, and follow procedures.
• Coordinate emergency breakdown response to maximize production uptime.
• Communicate equipment status and priorities with production, sanitation, quality, and management.
• Provide leadership during shift handoffs and detailed shift communications.
• Lead RCA investigations and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime.
• Document activities in CMMS, including parts usage and follow-up actions.
• Perform weekly audits of preventive maintenance and work quality.
• Mentor and train maintenance technicians at all levels.
• Lead pre-start and pre-flight inspections before bakery restarts.
• Identify hot spots and drive corrective actions for long-term reliability.
