Job summary

The Assistant Bakery Manager at Schnucks in Godfrey, IL performs all duties of an experienced bakery clerk while taking on leadership responsibilities. You will step in as Bakery Department Manager in their absence and ensure seamless department operations.

This full-time role (40 hours/week) requires flexible weekend availability, strong customer service, and teamwork. You will train staff, schedule production, manage orders, maintain safety and sanitation, and ensure high-quality, fresh bakery

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months of related bakery or retail experience.
• Full-time position requiring 40 hours per week with weekend flexibility.
• Regular, reliable attendance.
• Ongoing training provided at store level.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Department Manager in their absence, ensuring all standards are met.
• Assign daily duties to the bakery team to maintain an efficient workflow.
• Train new teammates on bakery operations, safety, and customer service standards.
• Write daily orders and establish production timelines.
• Process customer requests, including ordering decorated cakes from the bakery plant.
• Provide friendly, courteous, and prompt service to customers in person and on the phone.
• Process incoming products and stock orders; bake and package baked goods.
• Rotate displays and maintain sanitation and safety across the department.
