Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Wisconsin is seeking a Bakery Department Manager to lead daily operations, ensure safe, clean environment and deliver outstanding customer service.

You will set department goals, manage scheduling, train associates, oversee quality, implement promotions, and monitor inventory and costs while upholding Kroger's standards. This role requires strong communication, ability to handle stress, and a current food handler permit; prior bakery/retail management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates and maintain a positive attitude.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet targets.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train and develop associates and participate in the performance appraisal process.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and informed about products in the department and store.
• Inform customers of promos and offer samples to help discover items.
• Review products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action.
• Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
• Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
• Inform and educate department associates about current and upcoming promotions affecting the department.
• Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
• Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
• Assist management in budgeting, expense control, and profit/loss reviews.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags/promotional signs.
• Plan and organize inventory processes and train associates on CAO.
• Ensure proper temperatures and log temperature checks.
• Reinforce safety programs and report safety risks and incidents.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity as required.
• Adhere to laws, guidelines, and company policies.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts constructively.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
