Job summary

The Kroger Co. in West Jordan, UT is seeking a Bakery Associate to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a safe, clean bakery area. You will help achieve department goals and supervise daily activities to ensure product quality and freshness.

Responsibilities include scheduling, training staff, executing promotions, managing inventory and pricing changes, and upholding safety and company policies in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Current food handler permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
• Communicate department information to associates.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet targets.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train and develop associates on performance and participate in evaluations.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions and making suggestions.
• Inform customers of specials and offer samples to discover new items.
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take action.
• Create and implement a department business plan to achieve results.
• Create and execute sales promotions with store management.
• Inform associates about in-store promotions and impacts on the department.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
• Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
• Assist management with budget, expenses, and financial reports.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags.
• Plan and organize inventory processes and CAO training.
• Ensure proper temperatures and maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and report safety risks or incidents.
• Adhere to laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflicts.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support with minors, people with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
