Job summary

Fred Meyer seeks a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to prepare items per customer requests using bakery equipment, offer samples, and inform customers about specials. Ensure fresh, correctly portioned products and follow temperature logs and safety guidelines.

You will help customers discover new items, stock and label merchandise, and maintain a welcoming store environment while upholding company values and quality standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Bakery/Deli Clerk should offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will be able to inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use all equipment in bakery such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe, using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take action.
• Properly use kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, etc.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store's layout and locate products on request.
• Stay current with ads and seasonal items.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions and suggestions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflicts calmly.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
