Job summary

H-E-B in Port Arthur, TX is seeking a Food Service Representative to keep the department well stocked and maintained while delivering superior customer service. You will prepare, package, and merchandise fresh products daily, and uphold all food safety and sanitation standards.

In this role you’ll assist customers with selections, take orders in person or by phone, and support Bakery, Deli, and Prepared Foods teams as needed.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or equivalent - Required
• Completion of Company Orientation - Required
• Food safety and sanitation training - upon hire - Required
• Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, scales, label machine) - Required
• Strong customer service skills - Required
• Reading and writing skills - Required

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to shoppers
• Take orders from customers by phone or in person
• Answer questions about products and assist with selections
• Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh products daily
• Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products as needed
• Use suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and increase department sales
• Clean and sanitize display cases and maintain equipment
• Comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
• Follow department and store operating procedures
• Record production and assist in production planning for Bakery
• Manage service counters and use ordering systems for Deli
• Perform sanitation and maintenance on slicers and related equipment
• Educate customers on product preparation and reheating instructions
• Perform inventory and preparation tasks for Prepared Foods
