Job summary

Kroger in California is hiring a Bakery/Deli Clerk to prepare items per customer requests and promote deli/bakery specials. You will maintain safe, clean conditions and assist the department manager in achieving sales goals while delivering outstanding customer service.

As part of the Bakery/Deli team, you will use bakery equipment, stock inventory, check freshness, and help customers find products with friendly, knowledgeable service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare items per customer requests using bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery/deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products ordered and sized correctly to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to meet customer needs.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, mix ingredients and prepare using various utensils.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Use kitchen equipment (stove, scale, fryer, steamer, etc.).
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to department manager.
• Know store layout to locate products for customers.
• Stay updated with ads and promotions.
• Gain knowledge of products to answer questions and suggest items.
• Maintain inventory awareness and flag discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Work cooperatively in high-paced environments.
• Manage conflicts calmly and cooperatively.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
