Bakery/Deli Clerk (Finance)

Essential Job Functions:

1. Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
4. Provide customers with fresh products ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
5. Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
7. Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various utensils and equipment.
9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
10. Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
11. Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
12. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
13. Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
14. Understand store layout and locate products upon request.
15. Stay current with ads, promotions, and seasonal items.
16. Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
17. Monitor inventory and stock conditions, noting discrepancies.
18. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep logs.
19. Create a welcoming environment for customers, ensuring they feel valued.
20. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
21. Follow safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and practice preventive maintenance.
22. Report accidents involving customers or employees.
23. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
24. Manage conflicts calmly and cooperatively.
25. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
26. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
27. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
