Responsibilities include:

  • Offering product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  • Informing customers of bakery and deli specials.
  • Providing customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
  • Recommending bakery or deli items to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Using bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
  • Preparing foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients as per recipes.
  • Packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients and products.
  • Checking product quality and freshness, reviewing 'sell by' dates, and taking appropriate actions.
  • Properly using kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, and steamers.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
  • Reporting discrepancies in product ordering or shipping.
  • Knowing the store layout to locate products for customers.
  • Staying updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special advertisements.
  • Gaining knowledge of products and responding to customer questions and suggestions.
  • Monitoring inventory and stock conditions, noting discrepancies.
  • Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping logs.
  • Promoting trust and respect among team members.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and making them feel valued.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforcing safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Reporting customer or employee accidents.
  • Working cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance to resolve issues.
  • Supporting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
