Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
4. Provide customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
5. Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
7. Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
10. Check product quality for freshness and review 'sell by' dates, taking appropriate actions.
11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
12. Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to management.
13. Understand store layout to locate products efficiently.
14. Stay updated with current and upcoming promotions and seasonal ads.
15. Gain product knowledge to answer questions and make suggestions.
16. Monitor inventory and stock conditions, noting discrepancies.
17. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, keeping logs.
18. Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel valued.
19. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
20. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
21. Practice equipment maintenance and report repairs as needed.
22. Report customer or employee accidents promptly.
23. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
24. Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
25. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
26. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
27. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
28. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
