Responsibilities include:

  • Offering product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Informing customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Providing customers with fresh products they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Recommending deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Using bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  • Preparing foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Properly preparing, packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients and merchandise.
  • Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate actions.
  • Properly using kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and robots.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
  • Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understanding the store layout and locating products for customers.
  • Staying current with store ads and promotions.
  • Maintaining knowledge of products sold within the department and responding to customer questions and suggestions.
  • Monitoring inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  • Ensuring proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining temperature logs.
  • Promoting trust and respect among associates.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions about products.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforcing safety programs, complying with safety procedures, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Practicing preventive maintenance and inspecting equipment, reporting repairs.
  • Reporting customer or employee accidents.
  • Working cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
  • Managing conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
