Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products, correct portion sizes, and prevent shrinkage.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers.
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes, using appropriate utensils and equipment.
- Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality for freshness and review "sell by" dates.
- Properly operate kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to management.
- Understand store layout and assist customers in locating products.
- Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and ads.
- Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
- Monitor inventory and stock conditions, noting discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperature control in cases and coolers with maintained logs.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers and promote trust among associates.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Follow safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and perform preventive maintenance.
- Notify management of accidents or equipment needing repair.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment, managing conflicts professionally.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when resolving issues.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
