Essential Job Functions:

  1. Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  4. Provide customers with fresh products ordered and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
  5. Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
  6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
  7. Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using kitchen utensils and equipment.
  9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
  10. Check product quality, review 'sell by' dates, and take appropriate actions.
  11. Properly use kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
  12. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  13. Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
  14. Understand the store layout and locate products for customers.
  15. Stay current with ads and promotions.
  16. Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
  17. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  18. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
  19. Promote trust and respect among associates.
  20. Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and making them feel valued.
  21. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  22. Reinforce safety programs, comply with procedures, and report unsafe conditions.
  23. Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
  24. Report customer or employee accidents.
  25. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, stressful environment.
  26. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
  27. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  28. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  29. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  30. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
