Responsibilities include:

  • Offering product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Informing customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Providing customers with fresh products they have ordered and ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
  • Recommending deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Using all bakery equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Preparing foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients according to recipes.
  • Properly preparing, packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients.
  • Checking product quality to ensure freshness and reviewing "sell by" dates.
  • Using kitchen equipment properly, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, etc.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
  • Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies.
  • Understanding the store layout and locating products for customers.
  • Staying current with ads and promotions.
  • Maintaining knowledge of products and responding to customer questions.
  • Monitoring inventory conditions and maintaining temperature logs.
  • Promoting trust and respect among associates.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
  • Practicing preventive maintenance and inspecting equipment.
  • Reporting accidents or unsafe conditions.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced environment.
  • Managing conflicts professionally.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Supporting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
