Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
4. Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
5. Recommend bakery or deli items to customers to meet their needs.
6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens following company guidelines.
7. Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using appropriate utensils and equipment.
9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
10. Check product quality for freshness and review 'sell by' dates, taking appropriate action.
11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
12. Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the manager.
13. Understand the store layout and locate products upon request.
14. Stay updated with current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.
15. Maintain knowledge of department products to respond to questions and make suggestions.
16. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
17. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
18. Promote trust and respect among team members.
19. Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions about products.
20. Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
21. Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
22. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
23. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
24. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
25. Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
26. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
27. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
28. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
29. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic math.
• Ability to obtain a food handlers permit upon employment.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Bakery or deli experience is helpful.
