Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products they ordered, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various utensils and equipment.
- Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
- Properly use kitchen equipment including stove, scales, fryer, steamer, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
- Understand store layout to locate products for customers.
- Stay current with ads and promotions.
- Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
- Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cases and coolers with logs.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or accidents.
- Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs.
- Perform duties in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
- Manage conflicts cooperatively and act with honesty and integrity.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer Service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math
- Ability to obtain a food handlers permit after hire
