Job summary

The Kroger Co. bakery department seeks a reliable team member to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a safe, clean environment.

Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while upholding Kroger's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. Responsibilities include promoting trust among associates, answering customer questions about products, preparing bakery items per requests, and ensuring proper temperature logs and food

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.

• Knowledge of basic math.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Bakery experience.
• Retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portions to prevent shrink.
• Recommend bakery items to ensure customers get what they want.
• Use all bakery equipment according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods following recipes and temperature logs.
• Measure, mix ingredients, and use kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Use kitchen equipment, stove, scales, fryer, steamer, etc.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Understand store layout and locate products for customers.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory and stock levels.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and logs are maintained.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks, theft, or fraud.
