Job summary

El Super in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a Bakery Clerk to support bakery operations under the Bakery Manager. The role focuses on delivering friendly customer service, assisting with bakery purchases, and maintaining clean, well‑stocked displays.

Knowledge of food handling and a Food Handler Card are required, with equal opportunity employment provided to all applicants.

Qualifications

• Provide excellent Customer Service
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, and short correspondence
• Write simple correspondence
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery.
• The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department, assists customers with bakery purchases, cleans shelving and display cases, cleans, fills, and rotates the self‑serve displays in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery, and works with customers to take special orders.
• The Bakery Clerk also works with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated.
• This position helps clean the department by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure cleanliness.
• Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to preparation, handling, and serving food.
