Job summary

El Super is hiring a Bakery Clerk for Store #24 in La Puente, CA. Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, you will provide friendly customer service and assist with bakery purchases, special orders, and merchandise displays.

You will work with the Baker to determine items to bake or decorate and help keep the bakery area clean and organized in a fast-paced environment. Food handling experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information to customers and coworkers.
• Follow written or oral instructions with common sense.
• Regularly lift up to 60 pounds.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery.

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases. The clerks clean, fill, and rotate the self‑serve displays in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery. The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders. They will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated. This position also helps in the department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness.

The working environment is typical for a fast‑paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements. Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to preparation, handling and serving food.
