Overview

Job Summary

Scales, mixes, and bakes various bakery goods. Maintains proper inventory levels of products and ensures the cleanliness and appearance of the bakery department meet standards. Consistently provides friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers. Performs other related work.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcomes, engages, serves, and thanks customers, maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic customer service atmosphere.
• Produces bakery products for retail stores.
• Operates and cleans equipment and work areas, maintaining cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Packages all fresh products following proper procedures.
• Ensures product quality by following codes and standards.
• Mixes icing or toppings by measuring ingredients, operating mixers, and following recipes, including lifting heavy bags of ingredients.
• Prepares cakes by layering, icing, decorating, and packaging.
• Labels bakery items accurately using scanning and labeling machines.
• Displays products appealingly on shelves, following FIFO rotation.
• Handles customer orders via phone and in person, including special orders and cake personalization.
• Maintains merchandise presentation and cleanliness of displays and work areas.
• Assists customers with inquiries about products, pricing, and availability.
• Monitors inventory levels, filling out production and inventory sheets accurately.
• Prepares breads and rolls by mixing, setting up racks, operating ovens, and handling baked goods.
• Performs cleaning duties to maintain a sanitary work environment.
• Opens and closes the bakery following company procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to:

• Provide friendly and courteous customer service consistently.
• Work varied hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, in a 24/7 operation.
• Pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs. of product on racks.
• Lifting objects up to 50 lbs., including ingredients and baked goods.
• Conduct visual inspections, follow recipes, log production data, and operate kitchen equipment with manual dexterity.
• Maintain composure with customers and co-workers.
• Reach overhead, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive movements.
• Handle bakery ingredients and perform basic math calculations.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and department policies, including the use of protective equipment.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Operate kitchen utensils and equipment accurately and efficiently.
• Demonstrate knowledge of product content, safety procedures, and regulations.
• Be at least 18 years old.

Additional Requirements:

• Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).

Machines and Equipment Operated:

• Ovens, mixers, proof boxes, bakery equipment, cleaning machines, and labeling devices.
