BAKERY/CAKE DECORATOR (Finance)

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all quality assurance standards. Minimum qualifications:

• Retail experience
• Bakery/cake decorating experience
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Basic math knowledge
• Effective communication skills

Desired skills and responsibilities:

• Second language proficiency (speaking, reading, or writing)
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions and making suggestions about products
• Maintain knowledge of products to assist customers effectively
• Offer samples and prepare bakery items, including wedding cakes, per customer requests using proper equipment
• Recommend bakery products to customers
• Ensure product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and use bakery equipment appropriately
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory merchandise
• Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping
• Understand store layout and locate products for customers
• Monitor inventory and stock conditions, noting discrepancies
• Comply with health, safety, and civil regulations
• Follow merchandising, customer service, labor, expense, loss prevention, safety, and food safety rules
• Reinforce safety protocols and report unsafe conditions
• Perform equipment inspections and notify management of repairs
• Report safety risks, illegal activities, and accidents
