Minimum Requirements:

• Any retail experience
• Any bakery/cake decorating experience
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Knowledge of basic math
• Effective communication skills

Desired Skills and Responsibilities:

• Second language: speaking, reading, and/or writing
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer inquiries and suggestions
• Offer product samples and prepare bakery items, including wedding cakes, per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
• Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
• Check product quality for freshness; review sell-by dates; use bakery equipment properly
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies
• Understand the store layout and locate products as requested
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies
• Adhere to health, safety, and civil code regulations
• Follow all merchandising, customer service, and safety rules, and participate in loss prevention and maintenance activities
• Practice safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
• Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment issues
• Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activities to management
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
