Baker

Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by producing, stocking, and packaging high-quality baked items in the most efficient, friendly, and courteous manner possible.

Reporting Structure: This position formally reports to the Bakery Manager.

Status: This is a non-exempt, Part-Time position.

Shift Required: Saturday and Sunday only from 4:00 AM-12 noon, and an additional shift during the week from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM.

Knowledge

The following is a list of certifications, formal education, or training requirements for this position.

• Essential Knowledge
• A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
• Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
• Non-Essential Knowledge
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Know and implement the Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
• Merchandise cases to ensure fullness, freshness, and attractiveness of displays to promote sales.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards to produce desired team and individual results.
• Efficiently and effectively bake all items sold in the bakery as requested by the Bakery Manager.
• Know your store’s items, procedures, and policies to accurately and courteously answer customer questions.
• Rotate fresh product into cases, coolers, and freezers to prevent the sale or use of stale/outdated product.
• Efficiently restock bakery ingredients daily and notify the bakery manager of items that should be reordered.
• Unload incoming shipments of bakery ingredients and stock them neatly without damaging merchandise.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area for customers and coworkers.
• Comply with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
• Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive interactions.
• Possess basic math and reading skills required for the position.

Non-Essential Job Functions

• Promote sales by suggesting additional products and offering samples.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when appropriate.
• Support company tasks, assist other stores or departments, and gain new skills as needed.

Essential Abilities

• Reaching overhead up to 70 inches, twisting at the waist, lifting objects up to 20 lbs.
• Pushing and pulling items weighing up to 20 lbs.
• Standing and walking for long periods on hard surfaces.
• Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs.
• Bending and squatting to floor level.
• Working in colder conditions in coolers and freezers.

Non-Essential Abilities

• Climbing a ladder up to 5 feet.
