Operating Title: BAKER I

Summary of Position: Under the direct supervision of Baker II, performs skilled duties in the production of baked and pastry items. Maintains proper sanitation levels as required, seeks guidance from Baker II on product preparation and finishing procedures.

Responsibilities:

1. Assemble, weigh, and measure ingredients for breads, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods using standardized formulas and procedures.
2. Place prepared ingredients into mixing unit according to specifications and instructions.
3. Prepare cooking vessel and pans to receive dough and ingredient batter as directed in standardized recipe.
4. Monitor cooking process of bakery items while inside specified equipment to ensure proper doneness and appearance of finished item.
5. Rotate pans to ensure proper balanced heat distribution.

Campus Location: Durham

Required Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. 1-2 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Prior baking experience desired.
2. Willingness to learn.

Physical Demands: Sufficient physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of the job.
