Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is seeking a Baker in Tampa to prepare a variety of baked goods according to recipes and production specifications. The successful candidate must excel in a fast-paced environment while ensuring the quality of food preparation and maintaining sanitation standards.

Job Summary

Prepares baked goods according to recipes and production specifications.

Location: USF, Tampa, 4103 USF Cedar Circle, Tampa, FL 33620.

Schedule: Varies; may include weekends and holidays.

Requirements: Baking experience strongly preferred.

Pay Range: $18.00–$22.00 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries according to production and catering sheets; assist in production planning to meet daily requirements.
• Ensure proper food preparation by using approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and proper equipment.
• Complete production records, including waste tracking and product shortages; notify supervisor when supplies are low.
• Maintain presentation quality, portion control, and serving temperatures.
• Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils in the work area.
• Handle food items appropriately and comply with safety regulations during preparation and service.
• Clean equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving; keep display equipment clean.
• Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a friendly manner; relay concerns to supervisors.
• Keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently.
• Verify that all food is presented, served and displayed per standards.
• Follow sanitation and safety principles, ensuring corporate and OSHA standards are met.
• Complete shift work as assigned in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
