Baker
Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by producing, stocking, and packaging high-quality baked items in the most efficient, friendly, and courteous manner possible.
Reporting Structure: This position formally reports to the Bakery Manager.
Status: This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Knowledge
- A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
- Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
Non-Essential Knowledge
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Essential Job Functions
- Know and implement the Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
- Merchandise cases to ensure fullness, freshness, and attractiveness of displays to promote sales.
- Meet or exceed productivity standards to produce desired team and individual results.
- Efficiently and effectively bake all items sold in the bakery as requested by the Bakery Manager.
- Know your store’s items, procedures, and policies to accurately and courteously answer customer questions.
- Rotate fresh product into cases, coolers, and freezers to prevent the sale or use of stale/outdated product.
- Efficiently restock bakery ingredients each day and notify the bakery manager of items that should be reordered.
- Unload incoming shipments of bakery ingredients and stock them neatly without damaging merchandise.
- Keep your work area and the department clean and safe for customers and coworkers.
- Comply with all health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
- Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive interactions.
- Possess basic math and reading skills required for the position.
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Promote sales by suggesting additional products and offering samples.
- Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when necessary.
- Support the company by completing additional tasks, assisting other stores or departments, and gaining new skills.
Physical Abilities
The following physical movements could be part of any scheduled shift.
Essential Abilities
- Reaching overhead up to 70 inches, twisting at the waist, lifting objects up to 20 lbs with both hands.
- Pushing and pulling items weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Standing and walking for long periods on hard surfaces.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs.
- Bending and squatting to floor level.
- Work in colder conditions like coolers and freezers.
Non-Essential Abilities
- Climbing a ladder up to 5 ft.
