Job description

The Baker assists in preparing quality baked goods for the student board menu, catered events, and cash operations.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $19.26-$23.59 per hour. An increase in this range is anticipated on July 1, 2025. The earliest start date for this position is mid-August 2025.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Prepare pies, cakes, breads, cookies, and other bakery goods according to production records to support Dining Services.
2. Assemble baked items daily in transport boxes for delivery to other units, including ingredient lists for all baked goods.
3. Clean work areas according to sanitation standards, including equipment, ovens, counters, and floors.
4. Research and introduce new bread and dessert items for board plan and catering.
5. Send out and verify ingredient lists for all items to ensure accuracy, especially for allergen information.
6. Perform other duties as assigned to support the department's mission.
7. Notify the Head Baker of any ingredient shortages impacting production.
8. Provide the receiver with an order list for items needed in the Bake Shop.

Qualifications:

• Prior baking experience, preferably institutional baking.
• Must pass the Manager Level Serve Safe exam within one year of hire.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Ability to lift items above waist level, push and pull up to 150 lbs. frequently. Requires long periods of standing, frequent bending, twisting, manual activities, and safe operation of kitchen equipment.
