Responsibilities
At Sprouts Farmers Market, the Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, and packaging all baked goods. Key duties include:
- Assisting the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising baked goods
- Providing high-level customer service and ensuring bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented, while maintaining cleanliness of the bakery area
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery environment, including cleaning shelves, floors, and equipment
- Stocking, filling, facing, and ensuring pricing accuracy, along with product rotation and discarding outdated items
- Receiving, inspecting, and logging products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality
- Thriving in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
To qualify as a Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years bakery experience preferred or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Be dependable, reliable, and able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Display outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude, with strong customer interaction skills
- Possess good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Be capable of answering phones and taking special orders
- Perform general housekeeping and sanitation in the department
- Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, with knowledge of weight measures for product labeling
- Stand for up to 3 hours continuously, and handle trays and items up to 40 lbs. for extended periods without mechanical assistance
- Adhere to safety, health, and regulatory standards, and maintain a Food Handlers permit
