Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. in the United States airport environment seeks a Bag Room Agent to assist with baggage handling, loading and unloading, and record-keeping for flight baggage.

You will work under the Lead Agent or Supervisor and may operate equipment while ensuring safety and compliance. Responsibilities include lifting up to 70 lbs, moving bags, reading baggage tags and load sheets, and using signaling devices to coordinate with crew.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to read baggage tags and basic load sheets.
• SIDA airport and training tests as required or willing to obtain.
• Valid state driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, load, unload, and distribute passengers’ checked baggage.
• Record-keeping for baggage and flight records as directed.
• Operate motorized equipment (Tug, Belt Loader) as needed.
• Maintain safety and comply with TSA/FAA regulations and policies.
• Assist in handling and transporting baggage efficiently and carefully.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Lead Agent or Supervisor, the Bag room Agent is responsible for receiving, loading, unloading, and distributing passengers’ checked baggage. Bag room Agents may also be responsible for record keeping procedures associated with baggage and flight records. Assist in the handling and transportation of baggage as directed. Transport checked baggage from one location to the appropriate location able to work quickly. physically fit and have the stamina for all the lifting, carrying, and bending that the job involves. Able to use mechanical handling equipment. a careful worker as some of the items you’ll be handling will be expensive and fragile.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lift baggage and or cargo weighing up to 70lbs. when loading/unloading aircraft, carts, and containers.
• Loading/unloading may require lifting over 100 items for a single aircraft.
• Push/pull loaded and empty carts and containers during loading/unloading operations.
• Couple/uncouple carts and/or cargo container dollies.
• Ascend/descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage.
• Bend/stoop and crawl to move and stack/unstack cargo in aircraft and containers.
• Stand for up to 4 hours in all weather conditions to upload or unload cargo and direct traffic.
• Walk continuously to load/unload cargo from pallets, containers, carts, or conveyor belts.
• Complete safety checklists for motorized equipment.
• Drive and operate motorized equipment (Tug, Belt Loader).
• Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags, and cargo labels.
• Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data for weight and balance purposes.
• Count baggage/cargo being uploaded/ unloaded during operations.
• Connect support equipment to aircraft such as PC Air, GPU etc.
• Use signaling devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew.
• Ensure compliance with dnata, TSA and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
