Job summary

dnata USA in Torrance, CA is hiring a Bag Room Agent to receive, load, unload, and distribute passengers’ checked baggage. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and physical stamina to handle heavy items on busy ramp operations.

Under supervision, you will read load sheets, operate ground equipment, and ensure compliance with TSA and FAA regulations while maintaining efficient bag flow through the terminal and aircraft.

Qualifications

• Must possess/maintain a valid state driver’s license and FAA/Airport identifications/seals or authorizations.
• Specific shifts determined by admin staff based on operational needs.
• Must pass SIDA airport and training tests.

Responsibilities

• Lift baggage and cargo up to 70 lbs during loading/unloading aircraft, carts, and containers.
• Load/unload up to 100 items per aircraft as needed.
• Push/pull loaded and empty carts and containers during operations.
• Assist in connecting/operating ground support equipment and aircraft load sheets.
• Read baggage tags and cargo labels, and enter data for weight and balance as required.
• Perform safety checks and adhere to TSA/FAA regulations.

Under the supervision of the Lead Agent or Supervisor, the Bag room Agent is responsible for receiving, loading, unloading, and distributing passengers' checked baggage. Bag room Agents may also be responsible for record keeping procedures associated with baggage and flight records. Assist in the handling and transportation of baggage as directed. Transport checked baggage from one location to the appropriate location able to work quickly. physically fit and have the stamina for all the lifting, carrying, and bending that the job involves. Able to use

mechanical handling equipment. a careful worker as some of the items you'll be handling will be expensive and fragile.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lift baggage and or cargo weighing up to 70lbs. when loading/unloading aircraft , carts, and containers.
• Loading/unloading may require lifting over 100 items for a single aircraft .
• Push/pull loaded and empty carts and containers during loading/unloading operations.
• Couple/uncouple carts and/or cargo container dollies.
• Ascend/descend jet-way stairs while carrying baggage.
• Bend/ stoop and crawl to move and stack/unstack cargo in aircraft and containers.
• Stand for up to 4 hours in all weather conditions to upload or unload cargo and direct traffic.
• Walk continuously to load/ unload cargo from pallets, containers, carts, or conveyor belts.
• Complete safety checklists for motorized equipment.
• Drive and operate motorized equipment (Tug, Belt Loader).
• Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags, and cargo labels.
• Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data for weight and balance purposes.
• Count baggage/cargo being uploaded/ unloaded during operations.
• Connect support equipment to aircraft such as PC Air, GPU etc.
• Use signaling devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew.
• Ensure compliance with dnata, TSA and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
