Job summary

Printpack is seeking a Bag Operator I to operate and maintain bag-making equipment in a manufacturing setting. You will monitor machine safeguards, manage temperature controls, and ensure products meet specifications with meticulous data recording.

The role requires basic mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to read technical specs. Night shift offers a $2.50/hr premium; overtime and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bag making experience or manufacturing background preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow technical specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic computer skills including email.

Responsibilities

  • Input data into Production Operating System with precision.
  • Perform quality tests and measurements for troubleshooting.
  • Assist Quality Technicians with box making and taping.
  • Coordinate with material handlers for supply management.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job description

The Bag Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining bag-making machines while ensuring the production of high-quality bags that meet all specifications. This position requires technical expertise in the bag-making process and attention to detail in a manufacturing environment. Bag Operator reports to Shift Supervisor/Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate 1-3 bag-making machines simultaneously with proficiency
  • Monitor and maintain machine safeguards, pressure systems, dwell times, and temperature controls
  • Ensure product quality meets specifications and manufacturing instructions
  • Complete accurate production reports to maintain product traceability
  • Input data into the Production Operating System with precision
  • Perform quality tests and measurements for machine troubleshooting
  • Assist Quality Technicians with box making and taping
  • Coordinate with material handlers for supply management
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Education & Experience:
  • Bag making experience a plus
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
Required Skills:

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment
  • Drug screening required
  • Background check required

  • Extended periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)

Work Conditions:

The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:

  • Operation of equipment and machinery
  • Solvents, fumes and inks
  • Variable Temperatures
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts
  • May require nights, weekends, and holidays.

An additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am. Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium.
