Simon & Schuster’s Scribner imprint seeks a Backlist Manager to unlock the full potential of a distinguished catalog. The role focuses on identifying renewal opportunities, creating repackages, and developing campaigns that refresh classic and contemporary titles.

The ideal candidate blends literary passion with commercial instincts, collaborating across Editorial, Sales, Marketing and Rights to extend Scribner’s legacy and connect with diverse readers.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in book publishing, marketing, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Scribner’s identity and American publishing.
• Ability to translate ideas into viable programs.
• Comfort with sales data, market research, and performance data.
• Excellent editorial, writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a year-round backlist strategy across formats and channels.
• Identify opportunities for repackages, new editions and publishing programs.
• Design inventive campaigns tying anniversaries, awards, and reader trends to backlist.
• Lead cross-functional teams with Editorial, Sales, Marketing, and Rights.
• Present strategies clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners.
