Job summary

Peak Utility Infrastructure is seeking a backhoe operator to support our utility construction teams on site. The role involves operating backhoes and light equipment, reading utility prints, and performing associated tasks with attention to safety and accuracy.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of backhoe operation experience, familiarity with underground utilities, and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment. Valid driver's license and successful background checks are required.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of backhoe/mini excavator operation experience is required.
• 1+ year of experience digging around underground utilities is required.
• 2+ years of dry utilities experience preferred.
• Experience reading basic prints and Underground Facility Location Sketch is preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maneuver, and navigate heavy equipment (backhoes).
• Inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify problems or defects.
• Read utility prints and maps; ensure compliance with laws and standards.
• Perform mid-level labor tasks on safety-sensitive sites (digging, traffic control, material handling).
• Post-job quality checks and report any issues to supervisor.
