Job summary

John Deere is seeking a Backhoe Engine Application Engineer to drive engine integration for PDP programs in Dubuque, IA. You will collaborate with JDPS and Yanmar to develop calibrations meeting performance targets and diagnose issues during product development.

The role emphasizes ISDP leadership, engineering guidelines, and cross-functional teamwork across mechanical and electrical domains. A BS in engineering is expected and onsite work is required.

  • Experience with 3D modeling tools, such as Creo.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for PDP engine, engine auxiliary, and engine systems vehicle integration.
  • Develop Backhoe engines, fuel systems, air systems, and other engine auxiliaries as part of PDP.
  • Work with John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) and Yanmar to develop calibrations that meet vehicle performance requirements.
  • Diagnose engine and cooling issues during new product development and support PVV engine and cooling test activities.
  • Lead Integrated Systems Development Process (ISDP) projects for Backhoe products that support future portfolio needs.
  • Contribute to product design guidelines, design books, and engineering analysis procedures for Backhoes.

Your Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for PDP engine, engine auxiliary, and engine systems vehicle integration

  • Experience with analytics software such as KULI, MATLAB, or nCode
  • Experience with CAN communication and / or engine diagnostic tools such as DevX
  • Experience as a Team Lead, Integration Lead, Design Review Lead or Subject Matter Expert
Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural or Aerospace Engineering
