Job summary

Transervice Logistics Inc. is seeking a Backhaul Coordinator to maximize fleet utilization and reduce empty miles across our contract transportation operation.

You will coordinate pickups/deliveries, track loads, collaborate with brokers, customers, and drivers, and ensure service aligns with commitments in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and secure backhaul opportunities that align with equipment, routes, and schedules.
• Coordinate and schedule backhaul pickups and deliveries to maximize utilization and minimize empty miles.
• Communicate with brokers, customers, carriers, and drivers regarding load availability, requirements, and changes.
• Match available backhaul freight with drivers, tractors, trailers, routes, and hours-of-service.
• Monitor and track backhaul loads from scheduling to delivery.
• Identify and communicate potential service issues or delays impacting customers or operations.
• Maintain accurate records of loads, rates, mileage, and documentation.
• Assist with rate confirmations, load documentation, and proof-of-delivery for billing.
• Evaluate opportunities based on revenue potential, timing, and feasibility.
• Support efforts to reduce empty miles and improve fleet efficiency.
• Track activity and assist in reporting on revenue and utilization.
• Develop relationships with brokers and customers to create repeatable backhaul opportunities.
• Coordinate with operations to protect dedicated customer service and outbound schedules.
• Assist in resolving freight discrepancies and detention charges.
• Monitor market conditions to identify efficiency opportunities.
• Maintain information within transportation systems.
