Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) seeks a Background Investigations Specialist to serve as a technical expert in pre-employment background checks, including fingerprint-based and IRS/FTI review. The role requires applying laws, rules, and policies with independent judgement to assess suitability for employment.

You will support BIU operations, manage data sources, and deliver clear guidance to HR partners while working in a hybrid schedule that includes office presence in Colorado.

Qualifications

• Four years of relevant experience in performing pre-employment background checks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting convictions to determine employment eligibility.
• Familiarity with state and federal background-check requirements and relevant databases.

Responsabilités

• Serve as technical expert for pre-employment background checks, including fingerprint-based searches and related databases.
• Apply rules, statutes, policies, and practices to determine suitability for employment with independent judgement.
• Assist with analyzing requirements under applicable Colorado statutes and IRS background checks for staff with access to sensitive data.
• Document findings and provide clear, actionable information to HR partners and leadership.
