JM Electronic Engineering, Inc. (JMEE) is seeking an experienced Backflow Inspector / Service Technician to join our field operations team in the Austin, TX area.

This role performs routine inspection, testing, and maintenance of backflow prevention assemblies across commercial and multi-family properties, interfacing with owners and city inspectors to ensure code compliance. The ideal candidate holds an active BPAT license, has 2+ years of hands-on testing and repair, and is comfortable with

Qualifications

• BPAT license required.
• 2+ years of field experience testing, inspecting, and servicing backflow assemblies.
• Strong understanding of TCEQ Chapter 290 rules and backflow codes.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to climb ladders, work in vaults/pits, lift 50–75 lbs and work outdoors.
• Professional demeanor and excellent verbal/written communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine annual testing, inspection, and maintenance on backflow prevention assemblies.
• Accurately tag backflow devices and complete cross-connection test reports.
• Diagnose backflow assembly failures and perform repairs or rebuilds.
• Test assemblies on domestic water, irrigation, and fire protection systems.
• Complete digital inspection reports and work orders using company software.
• Communicate with clients, site managers, inspectors, and fire marshals regarding compliance.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency repair calls.
