Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Oregon seeks a skilled backflow inspector/lead to test, inspect, and repair backflow devices across Oregon and SW Washington. You will complete detailed reports, mentor junior technicians, and coordinate with site contacts to ensure compliant operations.

Qualified candidates are licensed in OR and WA, have experience with commercial and residential systems, and are comfortable driving to job sites, including evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Licensed to work in Oregon and Washington.
• High School Diploma or Technical school certificate preferred.
• Experience with commercial and residential systems.
• Ability to lead teams on projects and manage groups.
• Good interpersonal skills; work independently when needed.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and out-of-town assignments.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
• Ability to operate and repair basic power tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Test, inspect and repair backflow devices in OR and SW Washington.
• Complete detailed inspection reports and document issues.
• Report results accurately and promptly.
• Protect and maintain company equipment.
• Meet with building engineers and site contacts to notify status.
• Repair as needed to ensure compliant operation.
• Inspect and maintain truck and equipment; request repairs as needed.
• Work safely per company procedures including PPE.
• Respond to emergency service calls.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

This position is responsible for inspecting and repair of backflow devices on Oregon and SW Washington.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Test, inspect and repair backflow devices in Oregon and SW Washington.
• Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues.
• Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Protect and maintain company equipment.
• Meet with building engineers, property management and/or site contacts upon arrival at the facility to notify of work status and again upon conclusion of workday.
• Repair as needed to ensure fully compliant system operation.
• Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
• Work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures including driver safety and personal protective equipment.
• Respond to emergency service calls.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualifications

• Licensed to work in Oregon and Washington
• High School Diploma or Technical school certificate preferred.
• Experience with commercial and residential systems.
• Requires the ability to act in a lead capacity and manage teams or groups of individuals on projects.
• Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
• Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site.
• Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend and/or out-of-town assignments.
• Requires the ability to display knowledge of principles, practices, codes, and regulations related to the work.
• Requires the ability to display knowledge of basic practices of reviewing official documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Requires the ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
• Requires the ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment, and machinery.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
